INWI Taps Aptilo Networks and Smartcom for Carrier Wi-Fi

London, WGC – 20 May, 2015 – INWI, the third largest telecommunications operator in Morocco, has selected Aptilo Networks and Smartcom for a major upgrade to “Wifi7 dak,” INWI’s public Wi-Fi service. The upgrade will increase bandwidth, support network expansion and add new payment functionalities.

New ICP Tier – Premier-Plus Carrier Wi-Fi Category is Next Step Towards Wireless Unification

The network, which will also be supported by the Wi-Fi Alliance®, will allow attendees using Passpoint-enabled iOS and Android from participating mobile operators to automatically roam onto the network using secure credentials and also benefit from a secure Wi-Fi connection.

Wireless Broadband Alliance Research Shows Improved Customer Experience a Key Driver for Carrier Wi-Fi Investment

70% of survey respondents said key motivation for deploying Carrier Wi-Fi is to improve customer experience; 41% also cited it as most important driver for NGH Investment

Singapore – December 2nd, 2014 – The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the industry association focused on driving the next generation Wi-Fi experience, today published a report on the Wi-Fi hotspot market compiled by global research company Maravedis-Rethink. The annual survey revealed that 70% of respondents said a key motivation for deploying carrier-grade Wi-Fi in their systems would be to improve customer experience and therefore increase subscriber retention. In addition, 41% cited this as the single most important driver to invest in NGH, ahead of offload.

Wireless Broadband Alliance Brings Together Industry to Accelerate Community Wi-Fi Deployments

Alliance Joins Forces with over 20 Major Industry Players and a number of Industry Associations to Produce Best Practice Guidelines and Highlight Use Cases

San Francisco & Singapore – September 24th, 2014 – The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the industry association focused on driving the next generation Wi-Fi experience, today announced new measures to accelerate the deployment of Community Wi-Fi networks where subscribers allow part of the capacity of their residential gateway to be open to casual use. The WBA has published a whitepaper that details Community Wi-Fi service levels, network architectures, and implementation details, as well as sharing case studies from existing providers. This is the result of nine months of collaboration with over 20 major players in the Wi-Fi ecosystem and the next step will be to send the whitepaper to a number of Industry forums for review. They include 3GPP, Broadband Forum, CableLabs, GSMA, IEEE, NGMN, Small Cell Forum and Wi-Fi Alliance.
