Partnership will play key role in development of Wireless Global Congress and Connected City Advisory Board

Singapore, 17 March 2016 – The Wireless Broadband Alliance today announced that it has signed a formal agreement with United Cities and Local Governments Committee of Digital and Knowledge-based Cities (UCLG-CDC) to work closely together on the development of Connected City initiatives. The partnership will play an integral role in the development of the Connected City Summit at the WBA Wireless Global Congress, taking place on 28th June in Liverpool.

Wireless Broadband Alliance Launches HOPE for Connectivity Charter for World Wi-Fi Day

Charter outlines and promotes Wi-Fi as the key to connecting the unconnected

Singapore – February 17, 2016 – The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) today announced the launch of its HOPE for Connectivity charter, a document which will define the focus of the first ever World Wi-Fi Day. The WBA has also revealed an initial group of 40 supporters, from the industry and from cities around the world, who are endorsing World Wi-Fi Day. The initiative, taking place on 20th June, will provide a global platform for recognizing and celebrating the significant role Wi-Fi is playing in connecting the unconnected.

Wireless Broadband Alliance Research Shows More than Half of Operators Plan to Deploy Carrier-grade Wi-Fi

Internet of Things, Smart Cities and Converged Services Driving Demand for Next Generation Wi-Fi

San Jose and Singapore – October 12, 2015 – The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the industry association focused on driving next generation Wi-Fi and its role in Public Wi-Fi services, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Converged Services, Smart Cities and 5G, today published its annual report on the state of the Wi-Fi ecosystem, compiled by global research company Maravedis-Rethink. The report reveals that 57% of Operators have firm timelines in place for the deployment of Carrier-Grade network architecture. In addition the research showed that by 2020 80% of respondents plan to have deployments in the areas if IoT/M2M, and more than half already have plans for Converged Services and Smart Cities.
