We recently had the opportunity to sit down with WBA member iBwave and ask them a few questions.

Benoit Fleury, VP Product Line Management, was kind enough to take the time to discuss what 2016 and beyond has in store for iBwave, and how their newest Wi-Fi product promises to play a key role in the company’s ongoing success.

What were some of the highlights of 2015 for iBwave?

A number of big things happened for iBwave in 2015. First and foremost, we kicked off our dedicated Wi-Fi initiative. Although we have supported Wi-Fi for quite a while, last year we took the steps towards beefing up our Wi-Fi capabilities and creating a standalone Wi-Fi product suite. After talking to many of our customers, Wi-Fi experts and industry experts, we dedicated our resources towards developing a best in class Wi-Fi solution that will bring iBwave’s signature design capabilities to the Wi-Fi arena. The recent release of iBwave Wi-Fi is a culmination of all these efforts.

In addition, we made tremendous progress with our small cells offering which was important for us. We were also acquired by Corning Incorporated, which was significant on a corporate level but didn’t really have any impact on our day-to-day operations nor the products that we offer.

Why should consumers and end-users be excited about your recently-launched Wi-Fi suite of products – specifically, iBwave Wi-Fi Mobile and its desktop equivalent, iBwave Wi-Fi?

The key aspect of our Wi-Fi solution is the fact that we’re providing all of the tools needed in order to plan and deploy networks on an end-to-end basis. For example, you have the ability to visualize your venue in 3D together with floorplans and networking information along with KPI results as you work towards deployment. We offer a rich components database that we’ve built over the years, with access to over 20,000 different in-building wireless parts from hundreds of vendors. Beyond that, iBwave also includes all of the networking equipment, cabling, and documentation/reports needed in order to launch the network. In short it’s not just a single product or tool but rather a complete suite that allows for the complete planning and design of Wi-Fi networks.

The other big element is the fact that we enable seamless collaboration of files from one department to another. It’s a Cloud-based approach that is very unique, and we’ve applied it to the unlicensed spectrum of networks.

What does iBwave hope to get out of its WBA membership in 2016 and beyond?

We’re always looking forward to learning more. The WBA is comprised of some very impressive and important companies ranging from service providers to technology providers. We know that we can learn a lot from our fellow members.

Additionally, we attribute a lot of value to the fact that being a member of the WBA will give us the opportunity to connect with other companies, including customers, partners, or even competitors. We really want to make a difference, too, and we think that we can add value in certain areas while teaming up with other members to introduce best practices and advance the adoption of Wi-Fi on a global level.
